The data center industry is expanding rapidly, driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing workloads. These facilities rely on precisely engineered, non-conductive components, from thermal containment barriers and fluid handling lines to cable pathways and custom-machined hardware.

National Plastics and Seals is an ISO 9001:2015-certified in-house fabricator and full-line distributor of plastic sheet, rod, and tube. Since 1985, we have supplied performance plastics for data centers ranging from standard PVC to specialty-grade PEEK, Ultem (PEI), and PTFE, backed by in-house CNC machining to deliver finished, application-ready parts.

Optimizing Facility Efficiency with Advanced Materials

Plastics for data infrastructure give facilities advantages that metals and glass cannot match. They resist corrosion from coolant chemistry, weigh less than metal alternatives, and deliver inherent electrical insulation that protects sensitive circuits. Selecting the right data center plastic materials across thousands of individual components has a measurable impact on facility efficiency, maintenance cycles, and long-term operating costs.

We stock and fabricate performance plastics for data centers across three functional areas: thermal and fluid management, data center cable management, and custom structural components.

Core Applications for Data Center Plastic Components

High-performance plastics solve critical environmental challenges within modern data infrastructure. Our materials are explicitly selected to meet rigorous data center requirements: chemical resistance for direct coolant contact, flame retardancy for strict fire code compliance, dimensional precision for rack integration, and extended service life in thermally cycled environments.

Cooling and Fluid Management

For hot aisle and cold aisle containment, polycarbonateis the standard material for panels, partition walls, ceiling tiles, and swing doors. Its impact strength exceeds acrylic at comparable thickness, and flame-rated grades meet applicable fire safety requirements.

Multi-wall polycarbonate adds a hollow-flute cross-section that traps still air, improving thermal separation between aisles and reducing the workload on cooling equipment.

Fluid-side applications require materials that hold up under continuous chemical and thermal stress. Liquid cooling and containment systems rely on high-performance polymers to safeguard high-density server racks.

Our fabricated data center plastic materials for advanced cooling loops include:

  • PTFE. Provides total chemical inertness against virtually all coolant formulations and solvents. This material is typically machined into fluid seals, valve seats, and gaskets within liquid cooling manifolds.
  • PEEK. Delivers exceptional fatigue resistance in pressure-cycled fluid systems and withstands high continuous working temperatures. It directly replaces metal fittings where weight reduction or corrosion avoidance is required.
  • Ultem (PEI). Features a high glass transition temperature and a high Limiting Oxygen Index. These properties make it ideal for structural components located near power distribution units and high-voltage bus systems.
  • Nylon and Acetal (Delrin). Serve as cost-effective, high-wear options for pump housings, manifold blocks, and tubing supports in moderate-temperature environments.

Data Center Cable Management

Organized cabling is both a safety and an operational requirement. Poor routing increases airflow resistance, complicates maintenance access, and creates a fire load that must satisfy applicable building codes.

Managing massive networks of cabling requires structural materials that satisfy strict building codes and reduce airflow resistance. We supply and fabricate tailored material profiles for high-density routing systems:

  • Expanded PVC. Used for conduit and cable duct fabrication in overhead tray runs.
  • Polyethylene. Selected for continuous cable protection within moisture-exposed or raised-floor plenums.
  • Polycarbonate. Utilized for transparent junction box enclosures requiring visual inspection without complete housing disassembly.
  • Nylon. Applied to cable ties and routing saddles to maintain structural integrity through repeated thermal cycles.
  • G10/FR4 Laminate. Engineered for tray dividers that demand simultaneous electrical insulation and structural stiffness.

We fabricate custom data center cable management components to order, cutting sheet and profile stock to specified dimensions and producing extrusion profiles that fit non-standard rack layouts.

Data Infrastructure and Custom Fabrication

Data centers also require structural data center plastic parts, including equipment mounting panels, insulating standoffs, rack blanking plates, busbar insulators, and floor tile supports.

We machine these data center plastic parts from acetal, nylon, polycarbonate, PEEK, Ultem, PTFE, polyethylene, and acrylic to customer specifications via our plastic fabrication and precision-machined plastics capabilities.

The performance plastics for data centers we carry for cooling and cable applications are available for custom fabrication, so procurement does not need to split orders. Our plastics for data infrastructure ship as raw stock or finished parts, with custom stocking arrangements available.
