Ultem (PEI)

Ultem which is chemically known as Polyetherimide (PEI) is a high-performance thermoplastic known for its high mechanical strength, rigidity and broad chemical resistance. Ultem’s resistance to steam and ionizing radiation make PEI a good fit in reusable medical equipment that requires steam sterilization.

Features and Benefits of Ultem

Ultem is a great choice in applications in which long life and repeated exposure to steam is necessary. Its resistance to ionizing, radiation and steam make it suitable for reusable medical equipment requiring repeated sterilization. Ultem has high heat resistance, UV and gamma radiation resistance and high strength and modulus as well as excellent electrical insulating properties.

Ultem certifies to FDA, USDA, NSF 51, USP Class VI and has a UL 94V-0 flammability rating.
